Capcom Dates Four Switch 2 Games — The 105-Day Wait for Boxed Resident Evil Is the Decision

Where, when, how much — one of three is answered

Where can we play these, and for how much? Capcom's September 10 IR release gives me dates, not a country-by-country shopping list. Monster Hunter Wilds reaches Nintendo Switch 2 on December 4, 2026. The three Resident Evil remakes arrive digitally on October 16, 2026, with boxed editions on January 29, 2027. The separate Wilds expansion, Ascendance, is scheduled for 2027.

That's four base games with exact dates, plus an expansion with a year. Those are useful commitments. The Japanese IR page and its English counterpart carry the same schedule; these dates aren't hidden in a Japanese-only document.

Neither IR version lists regional prices or a country-by-country rollout. That tells me what this document can answer, not what Capcom has or hasn't announced anywhere else. I still want to match the dates and edition to my own region's storefront before paying. A corporate calendar is a starting point for that check, not a checkout page.

The gap between digital and physical is 105 days

October 16, 2026 to January 29, 2027. I counted it out: 31 days to November 16, 30 more to December 16, 31 more to January 16, then 13. One hundred and five days. That's the gap in Capcom's schedule between the digital and boxed Resident Evil remakes — a full quarter plus two weeks, for the same three games.

That gap is the whole decision for a lot of us. Buy digital in October, or hold out for the boxes in January. Before choosing an import, I would compare the local boxed edition's date, language support and price with the Japanese edition's total delivered cost. A box alone doesn't tell me how the game is stored or what it needs to download.

I got as far as thinking about which proxy service I'd use before catching myself. There is no yen price in this IR page. I can't calculate a landed cost from this document alone: the sum needs an actual listing, shipping and any import tax. That's an unfinished check on my desk, not proof that Capcom hasn't published a price.

Japanese edition names aren't a region map

The Japanese page names RE:2 Z Version Deluxe Edition and RE:3 Z Version. Capcom's English IR counterpart calls them Resident Evil 2 Deluxe Edition and Resident Evil 3; it also lists Resident Evil 4 Gold Edition with the same digital and physical dates.

So I won't use the Japanese SKU names as evidence that these dates belong only to Japan. Nor would I use an English page as a guarantee that every country gets an identical edition. The useful check is the product listing for the country where I'm buying. Names are a reason to compare editions, not a substitute for doing it.

What I'd check before October 16

I wouldn't reserve an import just to fill a blank in this IR release. First, open the official product page for your region and check the date, edition, supported languages and price. If a local preorder is available, compare that total with the import total before choosing. This article has not established that overseas preorders are unavailable.

October 16, 2026 goes in my calendar as the Resident Evil digital checkpoint; January 29, 2027 is the boxed alternative in this schedule. I would check the December 4 Wilds listing separately. One game's regional release doesn't settle another game's availability.

Wait — on an import commitment, until a verified listing makes the delivered cost and the edition worth those 105 days.

Correction (September 13, 2026): Narrowed the missing-price and preorder claims to what the IR release establishes, recognized its English counterpart, and corrected the game count and calendar wording. The 105-day gap is unchanged.
